Ginseng grows spontaneaously in Northeast China and Korea ; in TCM, its anthropomorphic rot has been used for at least 7000 years to support body and mind.

Ginseng is a precious medicinal plant and is known as the « king of herbs ». The latin name « Panax is a combination of « pan » (meaning « total ») and « axos » (meaning « medecine »).

role of Panax ginseng

Modern medicine believes that ginseng has obvious effects on the nervous system, cardiovascular system endocrine system, digestive system, reproductive system and respiratory system.

Ginseng is a tonic-adaptogenic plant. It helps the body to react to situations of physical, mental and emotional stress. It is therefore suitable in cases of fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, and convalescence : it improves cognitive functions and sports performance.

In China it is a plant typically used by elderly people : a recent study shows that it can improve menopausal symptoms. It is also useful for carbohydrate metabolism.

HPLC chromatogram of the ginsenosides in Panax ginseng root

Ginseng root can be adulterated with its leaves; however, the chromatographic profile of the root differs from that of the leaves, guaranteeing its authenticity.

– the height and the area of peak Re is about twice compared to Rg1;
– Rf is distinctive: in the leaf, it is little present or absent;
– the peaks Rb1, Rc, Rb2 and Rd have decreasing height starting from Rb1.

quality of the ginseng resource

The entire ginseng selection, cultivation and harvesting process is supervised to reduce pesticide residues and heavy metals as far as possible, and to guarantee the safety of the raw materials.

adulteration control

Panax ginseng belongs to the Araliaceae family of the Panax species. Thanks to a strong combination of high-performance identification technics, we ensure that our extracts are not adulterated with unexepected part of the plant (leaves, stem …) or other plants (e.g. Panax quinquefolium = american ginseng). These 3 identification technics are : HPLC finger print, HPTLC-ID and F11-HPLC (specific for American ginseng).
