description :

Psyllium, also known as ispaghul, is a plant with many properties. More than 10 centuries B.C., Egyptian doctors used it to improve digestion and transit, and to treat inflammation of the urinary tract.

Its name psyllium comes from the ancient Greek “psyllia” which means “flea” reffering to the small size of the seed.

Psyllium can also be used as a texturiser and thickener.

In addition, by swelling more than 40 times its weight when mixed with water for exemple, it provides an appetite-suppressant effect and can therefore facilitate weight loss.
